    So any reported brickings with this new version? I lost my old psp to the first 2.71 downdater, so I don't want to lose this one too.

    Yes you can. It should not matter what region your PSP is.

    There used to be away to check the LETTER under 120V on the side of the PSP box where all the barcodes are to determine what firmware was pre-installed. Has anyone identified how to tell from the outside of the box whether it would be a TA-082? I bet if you looked hard enough in enough stores that you could eventually find a 2.01, 2.50 or 2.60 non TA-082 $249.99 bundle pack.

    as for how to tell the preinstalled firmware by lookin at the box (under 120v by barcode)
    no letter= 1.5 (launch date bundle)
    A= 1.5
    B= 1.51
    C= 1.52
    D= 1.52
    E= 1.52
    F= 2.0
    G= 2.01
    H= 2.5
    I = 2.6

    My brother in law bought a psp which was a K on the box. That WAS a 2.6. (Until I downgraded it's white ass)

    There is a simple tactic to avoiding buying a TA-082 PSP. Buy your PSP from a store that doesn't sell that many PSPs. Such as Target or... IKEA. Buying your PSP from a recently-stocked EB Games or GameStop will almost ensure your chances of getting a TA-082. BTW my PSP is PSP-1002K
