No, don't do it or you will brick your psp.

Successful downgrade! I used the Lite version in conjuction with MY OWN clean firmware dump to downgrade my brother's PSP.
congrats dude, currently I would reccomend mike tysons punch out for NES... good times!
Are all core PSP's ta-082? Or are some core PSP's ta-081?
Edit: If the code on the sticker on a PSP with the numbers ends in 1 does that mean it's ta-082? If it ends in 0, does that mean it is a ta-081?
your best bet is to buy a premium set at a place that doesnt sell many psps, so they will still have the older ones. you can also tell by the letters on the box, earlier in this thread we talked about this, just go back and take a look, I am pretty sure its there.
The letters on the box is only for PSPs that come with the headphones and case and stuff. My PSP is not that old and I thought maybe I could tell Walmart that my PSP is a gift and that it broke (didn't really happen) then exchange it for a new core PSP. I just don't know if all core psps are TA-082. I think that Walmart lets you exchange things if you say it was a gift then it broke.
I found a pic of where the sticker with a letter should be: http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f1...sp_version.jpg
and my box does not have a letter, or say 120V.
So there's no way to tell if a core psp will be a ta-082 without opening up the box.
Does anyone have a PSP that they bought as a core system, and is not ta-082?
guys the number ur looking for is under the UMD drive, it should be IC6001(downgradeable)...if it's IC1003 it's a TA-082 mobo(not downgradeable) and as far as the letters go on the box, there should be a letter A,B,C,D,E,F,G(these are all downgradeable) H and I are the TA-082 mobos
@buildit92: no it doesn't work on 2.8
