    Default DC with surgical spirit

    Hi there , I just bought a 2nd hand boxed DC and it is 60% yellowey brown and I was wondering does anyone think or know if surgical spirit is any good at
    removing it?

    Though to answer your question:


    I find that if purchasing a used console with the grimy looking colour deterioration, that I should take it apart and submerge the case in boiling hot soapy water (dish detergent is fine) and leaving it for about 15 minutes before carefully removing it to wipe it dry with paper.

    The most times, you will have to repeat the process two to three times depending on the deterioration of the plastic. But the results can show improvements.

    One method I haven't tried on the Dreamcast, is bleach. Which I'm thinking should be fine since the Dreamcast is white, plus many bleach products are packaged in thin plastic bottles so I'm guessing there is no dangers to the plastic itself (i.e: melting).
