Upgrade to 2.71

Hello there.
I own a 2.6 PSP but can't down-grade due to the lack of GTA:LCS. I was wondering if I could upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade that way, but how would I go about upgrading to 2.71?

Just download the 2.71 Update from either the sony website, here, and many other places. Then put it in a folder on your psp, PSP/GAME/UPDATE and put the eboot in the update folder...and then launch it from the xmb/psp menu

the update needs to be from the right area as well (if you have a USA psp, a uk update wont work for example) good luck with degrade, hope all goes well

zion, why would sony still have a old HACKED (sorry, wanted to express a reason why they wont have it anymore) update on there website when they have new, unhacked (although decripted ready for devhook, almost) updates? also, i didnt think dcemu hosted the updates (always seeing links to psp-hacks for updates)???

why would u not use the eloader 0.9.8? u can use the eloader and the 2.6 downgrader WITHOUT GTA:LCS

Blazed is right in his idea. The 2.6 downgrader is WAY more stable than the 2.6 one.

wow didnt know the same thing could be more stable than itself

yeah just use the eloader with gta needed

2.6 is more stable than 2.71 you mean
i thought that the downdater didnt work with 'porter'

how would we know if it's from the right area though? i just downloaded a 2.71 firmware from here

but it doesn't say where it's from ? what damage will it do if i used it?

anyone know where to get a UK 2.71 from ??!!

also, once i have the 2.71 update, is it just a case of putting the eboot.php onto memstick into the /PSP/GAME folder and then launching it through the eloader 0.9.8?
