I know I should say Tron 2.0, but far and away Half Life 2 is the best FPS I have played so far.Originally Posted by Facho
Monolith's Blood for sure. Tonnes more gore and better humour than Duke Nukem 3D. I think anyone who has played both games will agree![]()
Unreal Tournament hands down. At the time Ground breaking graphics. supreme gameplay and it was origionally released on the PC rather than on a console and crappy ports brought over to the pc
Halo 2... the best ever.

1. Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2 with its immensively smart source engine design has to come first because it's business smart, and just really fuggin fun to play. The game makers definately knew what they were doing when designing the original gameplay. Valve used smarter code design and more tricks to make the game visually entertaining yet not too memory consuming at the same time while still following a deadly interesting story-line and changing the gameplay to use your puzzle solving skills and driving different vechiles which was the icing of this cake. The physics are also immensively well done in this game. The ability to pick up a trash can to dodge bullets or pulling a chair in front of the door to stop people from coming in is just simply, awsome. Even though there are more graphically superior games out as we speak, in the fun and affordable hardware department HL2 is undisputed.
2. Oblivion
Oblivion is very fun to play and is graphically a grand feast for the eyes, it has a strong story line and a powerful cast of characters but its little downs/cons brings this peticular game to number 2 on the top 3 list. It's a massive memory hog is the first thing the game makers could have done away with. The pictures which are loaded into the memory are seldomly appreciated in the pixels they are loaded. The game takes up around 600 - 700 MB of space in the memory and doesn't really visually deliver what it uses. The distance view is choppy and could have been rethought, some quests contain gameplay halting bugs (dark gift quest), water is very unreal along with its interaction, and there are no new places to discover to see new creatures for creatures evolve with the player. Although this game has some eye piecing cons, its pros are cannot go unnoticed. It's a generally LOVELY piece by its authors and Patrick Steward being the voice of the emperor definately gives it another plus from meDefinately a recommended game.
3. F.E.A.R.
Here we have the action FPS of the movie Ring. The game developpers managed to give this game 2 things which take this game higher up on the list than all other games released; Extremely-Advanced A.I. and Superbly Realistic Graphics along with its scares. This game actually has soldiers which set up traps for you, and call for help from each other. It's indeed a very fun A.I. to fight against but that was also the letdown of the gameplay for that peticular A.I. is ALL YOU GET TO FIGHT almost 90% of the game. The clone soldiers, and the FBI lookin agent folks all operate on the same A.I. which takes out that different taste factor out of the game. Everybody likes ice-cream, but people sometimes want a bite of chocolate aswell as good as ice-cream maybe. However the game still manages to keep you focused on the story for it's very deep and interesting. The scare tactics are really well taught of, the ladder scenes gave me goose bumps every now and then along with the sewer shadows. Definately another recommended masterpiece.
All-Time Top 3
1. Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2 is just the game of the entire year with still to this second new made mods and ever improving chain of brilliant games such as Day of Defeat: Source and Counter-Strike: Source just takes the cake for all time top 3 of all games.
2. Quake
Quake was the "WOAH" of its time as it introduced "improved" coding for the first models and more interactable environment along with a really "fun to play" game in the end. It brought mutliplayer options to join the entire world together to kill the crap out of each other and enjoy what internet really has to offerI.D. has always amazed me in graphics department even though Doom 3 was a disappointment in gameplay department, Quake 4 made up for what that engine was missing in its predecessor.
3. Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny
This was the first game to HOOK me to its story line for it was almost better than a mushroom trip. The game combining acting skills with its time's strong graphics engine and a BIIIG fuggin world to discover and required puzzle solving skills and spell casting along with mixing items to get new items, discovering stronger weapons and EVEN ALTERNATE ENDINGS is just a marvel to play. Those who have never played this game might still even fall in love with it. I'd have to say, it's Oblivion of its age.
