The hacker who settled with Sony after the company sued him for modifying his PlayStation 3 console is getting a lot of flak fornot taking the fight further. 'Night Breed' [wrote], 'So basically you settled for a job and took people's money, giving them a false hope of settling for their rights? What do you plan to do with the money that was donated to you to provide a cushion for the legal battle? I hope you will be paying all those people back since you obviously didn't live up to your word.'"http://games.slashdot.org/story/11/0...ony-Settlement
I think it was his legal defense that allowed him to settle this way. I am glad it's over. The case seem to boil down to did Geo hot accept the PSN T&A. Kind of flimsy for all that PR. The only thing I even cared about was him being hung out dry for every case of piracy back to the C64. Remember the kid who got sued by the RIAA for a few million for creating a search engine that had crawlers that among other things specifically hunted out MP3s on the internet. I wish that kid could have afforded better representation.
All and all I think the both hobbyists and companies learned something positive way down beneath the PR.
