On Monday, Sega applied for a European trademark for Yakuza Dead Souls.
While several games in the Yakuza series are yet to head west - PS3's Kenzan, which was set in the 16th century, and PSP titleBlack Panther - the name points strongly to a western localisation of zombie spin-off Yakuza Of The End.
The game's planned March release in Japan was delayed following the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, but went straight in at the top of the charts when it was finally released in June. Sega shippedmore than 400,000 units of the game in just two weeks.
Sega's Daisuke Sato told Joystiq at the Tokyo Game Show earlier this month that any localisation of Yakuza Of The End would mean tweaking its control system, saying: "For the western version ofYakuza Of the End - if that's going to happen - then we will tweak the controls, to be closer to other western shooting franchises."
