Shouldnt the ps1 emulator be legal? I mean as long as he dosnt give out 150's and the ps1 BIOS (or use sony copyrighted software) then it should be, right?

Emulators arent illegal as long as this isn't released with any bios files or anything, it should be perfectly legal to distribute the thing

But when Sony is planning on reviving the PSP with an official PS1 emulator made by them and game downloads that are for sale...

Like I said, Sony may have no legal ground whatsoever . But that doesn't stop the fact of Due Process allowing Sony their right to trial to determine if the said suit has any legality. By that point any parties involved have spent massive amounts of money or buckle down to no contest.

At that point said parties usually resort to shutting down their websites and ceasing their activities to make ends meet because of fees involved in just getting a lawyer to take their case.

First. While the moral issues of yoshi's releases are disturbing, we are more concearned with the legal issues.

Second, this thread has nothing to do with yoshi, stay on topic.

Third, there is nothing illegal about releasing this emulator so long as no illegal files are distributed with it. When it is officially released it will be done on the site as we normally do.

Fourth, "Anonymous Coder" could just be the name he chose to call himself.. It does not have to mean he is frightened that Sony has paid hit men to find him and kill him. I imagine he would be smart enough to know that would never be the case.

PSP homebrew software is totally different from that of the xbox as it is created with a completely legal software development kit.

Cool, so it is a psone emu. Deductive reasoning works all the time. Alot of anticipation once for the news and now for the release(one day). Can´t wait. who would have thought, 2 psx emus. Psp homebrew scene rocks!!!
