i see u grew some balls and decided to try it out lol, checking out the video right now, also which would u perfer between the 2.71SE-A cfw and to 1.5 w/ devhook and harleyg's cfw(or any cfw)?

I prefer this one, it's really cool!
Also, BTW I didn't do a clean 1.5 install. I just put it there and it installed perfectly!

Ok I'm scared as hell about doing this as the readme is sketchy and I have a custom 1.5 that lets me run apps like a 1.0 already. I've heard people say to downgrade to a pure 1.5 first, and other people say don't bother it doesn't matter, at and least one person has bricked.

Is there any solid step by step tutorial out there on this yet? Usually I don't bother with them but this time I'm unsure of myself.

lots of people have said u don't need a clean 1.5 fw and have done this with cfw installed, alot of them did upgrade then downgrade to be safe but i don't think it's necessary as ExcruciationX has stated(since he didn't upgrade then downgrade or remove his cfw) and he was successful

Thanks, I'm still unsure about this. I really REALLY don't want to brick this thing, as I took the money out of my college fund to get it, and I'm not dipping back in again


On the other hand, having 2.71 with homebrew....so tempting. If I decide to do it I'll edit this with results.

Yeah it's not neccesary because it logicaly formats your flash before it writes the new firmware.

I had CFW and a few other mods and I installed it without any probs I also did my brothers which had a few mods and his was fine aswell.

You do not need to worry about it. Use this pack, and you should be fine, since it has all required files:www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=824. Just don't get scared when you first turn it on, it boots slower, making it look like it's bricked. Cool! I got refered to!

I just tried this program, closely following the instructions in the readme, and the guide by CloudHunter, which is available earlier in this thread, here's a link

I had custom firmware installed, but I did not bother to remove it.

I can report that this program performed exactly as advertised. It did not brick my psp, everything works fine. I can now run 99% of homebrew on my 2.71se-a psp, and use all of the wonderfull features built into 2.71 (flash, wma, browser, rss)

I was somewhat apprehensive about doing this, but the readme, and cloudhunters guide, were very easy to follow. There were no hiccups or doubts during the entire process

In other words, 110% satisfaction.

question, does this allow u to hold "HOME" and press "L trigger" to load devhook instead of selecting the program under GAME?
