    Maybe it's over my head, or maybe I just haven't cared since it hasn't applied to me, but...is there any software released by Dark_Alex that is or creates an ultimate firmware (2.71 with FULL kernal homebrew support)?

    He has released his 2.71 SE custom firmware, which basically lets most 1.5 firmware run (apart from stuff like Xflash, which are only important for changing fonts etc anyway), information about it is in this thread:
