Change Controls in GenPlus?

I wasn't sure whether to post here or in the Development forum but...

I have the latest version of the GenPlus emulator and I noticed that there is no way to customize the controls like there is in NesterDC.

I have an ASCII pad (the one with ABC XYZ layout) and I thought this would be perfect for playing emulated genesis games.

Since there is no option for changing the controls, could I edit the emulator's game file to map different Dreamcast button inputs to the corresponding Genesis buttons?

Nope. Chances are it's hard-coded in, and the emulator would need to be recompiled.
