you can use custom firmware on a 1.5 psp with the mp3xmb prx
this allows you to play mp3 files in the ms0://psp/music/ folder from anywhere in the xmb, then you just look at the pics from the xmb photo viewer

Homebrew that allows someone to play music and view photos on the XMB at same time?
Is there such a homebrew app. around? I can't seem to find one

could'nt you do this with IR shell except it wouldn't be on the xmb but its similar to the xmb

yes, but from xmb was asked, and cutom firmware is only way i know how to do it in xmb (using ir shell mp3 playback stops if you boot xmb
