i downgraded from 2.71 using the windows executable downgrader you can find here-- http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/psp-downgraders-34445.html . ive also went from 2.71 SE-A and installed harley g's twice with no problem what so ever. if your gonna downgrade use my link its the total package and it does it all for you all you gotta do is follow the VERY easy instructions.

    3 options:

    1. downgrade to 1.5 and stay there, maybe emulating 2.71. (middle chance of bricking)

    2. downgrade to 1.5 and go back up to 2.71 SE so you dont need to have to emulate 2.71 to get the features of it. (most chance of bricking)

    3. Use HEN and emulate 1.5 when you have homebrew that doesn't work with HEN automatically. (least chance of bricking)

You most likely wont brick on any of the ways, but HEN is the safest. (you need to downgrade to go to 2.71 SE)

Custom fimrware is what 1.5 and 2.71 users use it basically makes you psp brick proof

ok honestly your best option for full compatibility so you can all kinds of games is using my link to downgrade. however you do then need some other stuff like devhook so you can still play your umd's. the simplest option is probably using 2.71 SE-A because you dont need devhook or other crap like that. pm me your choice and i'll send you what you need since i have devhook, a se-a setup exec, custom firmware and basically everything but the downgrader i linked you to.
