Lightbulb Ding ding ding am I a winner?

I just had a really interesting thought. What if I took my 2.82 , went to Sonys site, got 2.8 and "upgraded" even though of course its not really updating? Because lets say someone got a PSP used, it has 1.0 on it and they decide to upgrade, wouldnt this mean that there
updates would have to be compatible with whatever firmware you have and will update no matter what version, and wouldnt this also work in reverse so to speak?
    And 2 main questions

    1. Would this brick my PSP?

    2. Can I even find the older updates?

Hahahahaha, it's a good idea but you must realize that it's so simple that it's been thought of probably thousands of times. You wouldn't brick your PSP. You can find older updates if you look for them. If you try it, it will just say that you can't do it because that firmware is old.

What about hacking one of the update files to see if you could do something with it? Is this even possible?

not possible, hacking the file would break sonys protection on the file, then the PSP thinks it corrupt
