New dashboard?

I was wondering if anybody can help me install a new dashboard on my softmodded xbox?
The catch is that I only have the default dashboard and xebian linux installed.
My xbox will no longer read from the dvd drive,what I want to know is if I can mount my partitions,find the default.xbe and replace it with say the xbmc without using an installer from inside linux?

Can you set up a FTP from your Xbox to your pc? If not you are probably going to have to mod a controller to have a usb port, but its not that hard.

You could also buy a new DVD drive and run Slayer's Auto Installer. Very good disc. But remember, IT WILL REFORMAT YOUR HDD, SO BE CAREFUL.

I suggest you use AID III (Autoinstaller Delux 3) I can't say exactly where to get it as it contains illeagly built xbe files(compiled with MS Xbox SDK). Lets just say *Cough**cough*Xbins*cough**cough

If you burn it you can install the original ms dsahboard as well.

I HIGHLY reccomend UnleashX as your dashboard.

Install Xbox Media Center too, and check out the MC360 mod for it.

AID has over 60 apps, dashboards, and emulators to install. You can also flash Bios(don't do that unless you know what you are doing).
