OK, I have a motherboard that has dual integrated NICs. One of them I have attached to a large network with internet sharing on it, and am not able to connect a second device to this network.
On the second NIC, i have a dreamcast attached with a broadband adapter and crossover cable.
I can use the dreamcast to surf the web, etc BUT if I try to send data TO it from my PC, the data is routed out the default gateway which is the internet NIC. I know about the route command, and have tried using it to no avail. The IP address of the second NIC is 192.168.0.1, and i have the Dreamcast set to 192.168.0.2 (through arp).
When I try to use route, I try by doing the following:
route ADD 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.1 IF 0x50003
Where 0x050003 is the interface designation of the Second NIC ( .0.1).
If I understand it correctly, what should happen is that anytime something requests the ip 192.168.0.2 instead of the request going out the default gateway, it should go through 192.168.0.1.
I would really appreciate any help possible with this. Thank you.
(btw any sort of extra hardware is pretty much out of the question)
