    Videos work on all firmware.
Use PSP video 9 to transfer them.
Put them in the mp_root folder of the memory stick.

There are basically two different types of mp4 (mpeg-4 and avc) that the PSP can play.
At the root of the memory stick make a file called MP_ROOT. Inside this make two files called 100MNV01 and 100ANV01. The mpeg-4 versions go in 100MNV01 and the avc's go in 100ANV01. When you convert or download them, you may have to rename them to M4Vxxxxx.mp4 (mpeg-4) or MAQxxxxx.mp4 (avc). The x's are any five digit number you want.
With regards to the PSPVideo9 converter, it's alright but can tend to not sync the audio correctly. If I was you, Id try ImToo Mpeg converter.
Hit back if you need any more help.
