The only way to tell a TA-086 is by opening the PSP box i doubt it is one.
Its your choice if you wish to downgrade or not
I recently bricked my PSP...
see thread http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=45653
for more info...
And to my suprise... sony sent me a new one... with 2.71 firmware and by the looks of it... not one of those nasty mobo's... It has no text behind the UMD drive that help you tell this is a ta-082 mobo...
So my question is... is it worth downgrading.. or is there a chance it has a ta-082 or ta-086 mobo in it? Is there any other way to tell?
Love you guys x![]()

good to know sony are still sending out psps w/lower f/ws than are out now. good old sony eh..when will they learn?
you are one lucky guy...
very lucky...
I thought about bricking my ta82 on purpose to see what I get back from sony..
I'm glad I have two PSP's.
Well... They did not even check the PSP to see what was the matter with it or anything... The man who delivered me the new... or should I say "re-manufactured" PSP took the old one back with him after giving me the new one... So...
If anybody has a PSP that has been purchased less than a year... you could possibly buy a broken PSP from ebay for next to nothing then phone sony and give them the details of your perfectly good PSP that is under warranty... so you could swap broken PSP's for "re-manufactured" ones!
you should investigate this new 3.02oe firmware. I'm trying it now and it's real nice
I may consider that 3.02oe but i am going to wait for it to be updated first
