Can I flash this onto my 2.71 SE-B" that has custom backgrounds and a custom font flashed on it by X-flash, or do I need to get a clean fw first?

Yep, I used a Japanese 3.02 eboot and a North American 1.50 eboot, and those worked perfect together.

No, you don't need to get a clean firmware. I flashed straight over all my custom stuff and it works great. I have the default gameboot, fonts and sounds now, though. But come to think of it, it could have been what was causing my blue screens.

If you get those, just restore the default system settings by pressing circle.
