Okay, forgive me if this has been covered, i've read through the threads many times, but this is still a bit confusing... I created the game just fine, got it all loaded up, the only problem is my firmware.

When i try to run the 3.02 oe-b update, the psp restarts, then gives an error message saying the "game" couldn't start. I'm currently running at 3.02, the most recent sony update since i have never had a reason not to update. Would i have to first flash back to a previous firmware before i make this upgrade? or am i out of luck? Please help!

You can only update to 3.02 OE-B or any other custom firmware with a 1.5 PSP. A PSP running an official 3.02 firmware cannot be 3.02 OE-B or any other custom firmware. At this time, there's also no way to downgrade 3.02, so you're stuck with no PS1 games, unless you get a PS3 and buy the very small number of games Sony is selling.

For those of you that upgraded 2 3.02OEA and cant run 1.50 Homebrew. All you have to do is use the recovery console and go to the option that lets you set the Kernel to 1.5 instead of 3.02.

Talking This new firmware actually motivates me to buy a PSP!!

When PSP first came out, I admit it is an amazing piece of electronic, but it never made be interested because there are no gd games at all!! I tell myself if sony release a FFVII remake on this platform, I would have bought it even just for this game. That I was thinking, may be someone had already invented a ps1 emulator for psp already after all this time. So i google it and I was amazed and relief!!

I am planning to get a PSP now so I can play FFVII and SOTN, but I am still in doubt of a few things. I notice that ppl are getting a lot of problem trying to get this to work, so I wanna clarify a few thing b4 I go ahead and buy one

I found a PSP value on ebay and it is tagged firmware 1000. Is that mean it is v1.5?

After I update to 3.03OE-A, can I still play all the official UMD games without bein ask to update my firmware?

The most important thing i want to know, Can I play ps1 game like FFVII and SOTN widescreen mode with the graphic distorted. May be its a silly question, but i am urged to know :P

Honestly, I don't see what's so great about Final Fantasy 7. I played a crapload of the first disc, and before I finished it, I just got too bored.
There's no such thing as firmware 1000. If you mean 1.00, then it can be upgraded to 1.5.
Custom firmware 3.03 OE is just 3.03 with dramatically improved capabilities such as those found on 1.5 and, as you're aware, PS1 emulation, so of course you can play standard UMD games as you would on the normal 3.03 firmware.
FF7 isn't magically formatted into widescreen just because it's converted to be playable on the PSP. You can play it in a normal size or in widescreen, but widescreen will stretch everything.

No, you cannot play any homebrew of any sort with a 3.02 firmware, you cannot install a custom firmware, and you cannot convert your PS1 games to PSP playability on a normal 3.02 firmware. Sorry, man. It didn't work last week, it won't work now. You should've researched it a little more if you actually wanted homebrew BEFORE you got the PSP.

Widescreen is distorted. It's VERY distorted. When playing a 3D game of mine, Medal of Honor, on the PSP, widescreen didn't look that distorted to me. If anything, it looked like the game was supposed to be widescreen.
However, I played a 2D game called Command and Conquer, and widescreen made it look blurry and awful. That happened for me on other 2D games, as well.
My conclusion is that 3D games don't look very distorted in widescreen, but 2D games look horrible.
