OK I just got my PSP. I got the value pack thing.. comes with a game a movie and a memory stick. I upgraded to the latest firmware from sony the 3.03 I believe. I think but am not sure that my firmware "was" 2.70. I really want to load this 3.02OE-A and then B. But Im so scared to brick my new PSP! Everything Ive read seems to be an upgrade from 1.50 also certain motherboards wont take the upgrade.

How do I tell what mobo I have and if I can use this firmware????

i am afraid u have done what cannot be undone (for now). unfortunately there is no downgrader from 2.82 or above. it is also likely u have a TA-082 motherboard which causes more problems. if i were u i would stick to using the PSX/PSP games available from the PS3 store (or other questionable D~L sites) until a safe downgrader is available. either tht or have it modchipped (WARRANT VOID)

In order to use this update, you need to be running either firmware 1.50, or 2.71 SE, not the official firmware 2.71. If you used Network Update to get to 2.71 you have the wrong firmware, and if you bought your PSP as a 2.71, you probably have the wrong firmware and you may have a TA-082 motherboard, which as I understand it means that you can't downgrade below firmware 2.5 without bricking your PSP.

Check System Settings -> System Information -> System Software on your PSP and make sure it says 2.71 SE, 2.71 SE-B, or 2.71 SE-C, not just 2.71. If you have a version of 2.71 SE, you're good to go. If you have 2.71, here are a couple of links for you.

And if for some reason you have trouble with HEN C...

If you have 2.71 SE and you're still having trouble... Well, I guess you'll have to either figure it out or hope someone else answers, 'cause I've never used any 2.71 firmware before.

And if, god forbid, it turns out you have a TA-082 motherboard, remember there's always eLoader.

    eLoader 0.995 "Kriek"

You can't emulate PS1 games with it (not well at least), but you can do just about every other darn thing.

    Best of luck.

And as long as I'm posting, if anyone has been able to successfully run the PS1 emulator using a Datel hard drive, please let me know.

    Default whats going on?

hey just a few questions. I followed your instructions to the letter and now i am using this new firmware. However, got a few probs.
    1. i don't know how to play the ISOs i have, i used to use devhook 46 to play them.
    2. everytime i try and play a psx game or a homebrew, it always says 'the game could not be starts (8002014C).
What is going on? thank you

I was wondering, since I havn't tried all these yet. How do you put multiple games under the GAME folder if all the ripped games' filename is the same? Or you can create sub folder to separate different games as long as they r under the GAME folder??

And my question goes the same as the icon and background pictures? How do popstation knows which icon and background goes for which game?

    thnx

Each one is differently named. Each Playstation title has a different code.
The icon & background files are incorporated into the eboot.

oic! so the picture and icon are incorporated into the EBOOT during the ripping process in popstation? But i still dun understand. The output are always the same, EBOOT.pbp. You mean we can name it differently afterward?
