Hey pibster!
I liked that wicked screen shot so much I wanted to
let you know that you don't have to use the PIC0.PNG at all.
So i remade the icon set you posted.
Everything is in the ZIP including a PICO.PNG file that won't destroy the background image.

*EDITED*
Changed the pics to make them look better.
There not 100% lined up, cuss it was all by guest work, no measuering ^^;;
Good job!
While the icon isn't exactly spot on I like the image.
The trick I use is to preview the icon set in PSX2PSP v[1].0.5.
because that version has the perfect dimensions for making the preview image I need.
(I use the most recent version of PSX2PSP to build games
because it lets me change the warning screen.
And its simply the best GUI out right now. imho)
I then use SnagIt to get the Preview image I need.
Next I layer it in MicroGrafix Picture Publisher8 as a transparency with the background I intend to use.
I can then get the exact stencil location I need for the icon.
I then remove the preview all together
and I am left with the icon matching the background exactly.
-Any- preview will work.
I reuse the same one over and over.
All I am after is the correct location/placement of the icon.
True transparent png's are a pain with very little benefit.
While nice backgrounds for our games are cool.
It is all about the games.
MicroGrafix Picture Publisher8 is abandon ware
While nothing compared to Photoshop its far better than Paint
and easier to use than Photoshop.
Here are a few new ones for everyone...if you have this game
