Thats interesting, I had heard that Intel tried to break the 4ghz barrier with their chips but failed because power consumption and heat were too significant.
If this is true for the PS3, then damn, that would be something. However, I doubt Sony would put all their cards on the table just yet. If this is true they would probably wait 2 years at least, before releasing an 'upgraded' PS3.
However the benefits of such would divide the Playstation fan base, creating games that used the technology and didn't use the technology, which could be rather tricky.
Unless the PS3 was designed for complete upgradability in the event of this, I cannot see how Sony could benefit from making this available as a PS3 Mk2 unit.
