I am a PSP owner whom thinks the DS sucks also. I have not owned a DS nor do I want one personally as it really does not offer to me what I can get on my PSP.

That said, games are personal preference.

I think Loco Roco, Exit, and Metal Gear Acid are great very fun to play. That's not say there are not plenty of other titles that possibly grab others attention, but for this PSP owner there 3 whole titles that keep me coming back. I personally would like more. And I'm not saying the others are total crap, no not at all. In fact Death Jr. 1 and 2 were OK. X-Men Legends and Rise of the Imperfects were fun for a bit too, but they just don't keep the attention.

Now to emulation and homebrew on the PSP, WOW! That's what I bought it for and the staple of why I carry the thing with me everywhere I go. I could go on and on here, but real homebrew PSP users know.

Also, homebrew doesn't count towards the commercial games market, so quit bringing that up.

Have a DS = 4 good games, crappy graphics (in comparison)
PSP = 7 also good games, slightly bettr graphics. Plus all the extras (HB, music, bal, bla, bla)
    It all depends on tastes.

Even if it is not a commercial "feature" doesn't mean it's not a good reason to own one. In fact I think many would have sold theirs (or never bought one like me) if it wasn't for HB.

You know, you all really sound like this guy, especially you slayer2psp. I agree, homebrew is better on the PSP, but the commercial games you state that are better are a matter of opinion rather than actual fact.

Play the sh*t you like and quit the bashing.

*edit* the DS sucks, the DSLite is what is owning the PSP right now.

    Same guy bashing the PSP.
watch both of these videos they are wicked funny.

PSP has better games. However, they aren't as fun, I mean, Tales of Eternia was a great game, but it wasn't one i'd play on the go. Same goes for like Syphon Filter : Dark Mirror, etc. PSP game designers are a bit off in how to target games right.

IMO, PSP kicks ass in homebrew, hence the reason I got it. The games I like are only a handful, and now that the PSX games are playable on the PSP, that's a big plus. I have a DS Lite and the games are much more engaging and those of the PSP. Still though, I enjoy the systems for what they have; PSP=homebrew, DS=Commercial games. Graphics are definitely better on the PSP but that's not a defining winner.

own a DS and PSP, so here's my 2 scents.

I believe the negative public opinion of games is mainly due to the fact that the games rarely satisfy the 'portable' aspect of portable gaming. Meaning, PSP games often demand an uncomfortable minimum investment of time to play them, sometimes due to the game actually taking close to a full minute just to load a scenario.Games can be paused and resumed with a sleep feature which definitely helps.

Other times, i think, its due to lazy game direction. I think developers have been approaching game development on the psp the same way as they did with the ps2. Not that all games are ports, but in every sense of the word they give us 'Playstation Portable' in that a lot of the games seem like they would actually be better suited for a console. PS3 people can go download Tekken 5. Everything that is in a console game can be found in this handheld, but none of the charm that made a lot of us fall in love with handhelds in the past.

I blame nintendo with the fact that they've made a lot of monumental handheld games for their gameboy line in the past decade. It's made the public a little spoiled/jaded. And because they kept pushing the envelope on their handhelds, it continues to inspire 3rd party developers to do the same. A lot of their games can be picked up, played for a while, and put back down to be resumed at a later time in 5 minute sessions (in my experience).

A lot of Sony's strength's have been that their developers consistantly 1 upping each other with gameplay. With all the great games that came out in 2006 that pushed the envelope in gameplay, i truely believe the psp can hit its stride in 2007. But on a handheld, gameplay is only great if it can start in less than 30 seconds.

I have to agree, it takes an insane amout of time just to start a psp game from UMD, (one good thing about 3.02oe-b, backups load MUCH faster than umd) and even my GBA emulator is up and running before I can even get the umd door open. IF sony could come up with a storage medium that has the storage capacity in as small of a case as a UMD but with the speed of sd/duo pro, they would have the WIN. I love my PSP and every game I have, but the almost instant load times on a DS look more and more appealing each day.

PSP fanboys are getting as bad as Xbox fanboys.
