Speaking of similarities, does any remember Zophar.net in its heyday?? If you've seen it now, you would weep.

Never mind, the new management finally turned it around, but the downloads section is still a little inconsistent.
This is wraggster's website. Love it or a hate it. A hostile take over would wind up just like dcemulation.com. Competition would be the best strategy.
Yes this means abandoning the information on the forums. Unless someone can convince wraggster to take a back seat or hand the website over, a new site is the only real alternative. I would personally like him to stick around. We shouldn't speak for him or make assumptions.
The major thing missing now is a homebrew scene. With the DC long dead and buried, and the PSP scene dying because of Android, the PS3 cell tech dead because of Sony, XBOX is a little flat as well. I am not sure the next batch of next gen console will have as big a homebrew scene as the previous iterations. Rather, I see homebrew moving into Apps.
Dcemulation has evolved under Wraggster from just DC to encompass most all platforms. I still want this site rehabilitated and maintained for posterity. Going forward, I have no idea how to create a vision of the future that stills gives the same feeling of connection that sites like dcemulation.com and dcemu.co.uk gave us all.
I think the lack of security planning and disaster recovery from the hack attacks really destroyed our faith in this sites management. All those weeks when the site would just go down because of poor infrastructure didn't help either.
Yes sites like these are labors of love. Which is why most of us didn't create our own.

Wraggs has read the thread I can assure you. I have a feeling an attempt at relaunching the site is on it's way.
And yeah, I'm still alive too.
Do you know if the staff will be included in this relaunch? Do you know of their concerns will be addressed?
Fair points everyone.
I'll start today by upgrading to the latest vBulletin version (4.2.0). I agree that there are too many forums on the front page. This could be sorted under subforums.
My input:
- News posts should not be indexed in the forum search engine. If you click "New Posts" you'll see what I mean. Almost all threads are news posts for the various sites. You'll have to sort through them to see the actual forum posts.
- The downloads system needs to be sorted. The old version we had installed was flawed (security wise) but I'll have a look and see if they've improved security.

In the middle of upgrading vBulletin. Things will look a bit funny for a while. Will most likely setup a nicer look too.
