Default Undiluted Platinum (U.P.) PSP Mod Chip

As my PSP is bricked and there's no way to unbrick it, even if I can get into the recovery menu, I was thinking of getting this mod chip, but before that I would like to know if anyone here has any experience with it, was it hard to install, can my psp ever get bricked again with this installed? (seems like not according to the text on the page as it has its own built in recovery menu system with L1 being pressed on bootup)

They charge 130 bucks for the installation and that's a bit much.

It's really hard to install if you've never picked up a soldering iron. They do, however, come with a series of leader plates (or whatever you want to call them) to make installation easier. The only way to permanently brick with this installed is bye screwing up the install.

BTW, did you create a recovery folder? I assume you used a custom firmware.

If you can get into the recovery mode, its possible to fix the brick...

    Try this: http://www.psp-hacks.com/downloads/brickfixer.exe

It should unbrick you if you get into the recovery mode of a firmware above 2.71SE.

OMG!, that brickfixer.exe unbricked my psp !. Thanks, Cloudhunter!

Why didn't anyone show this file to me sooner?... it's weird as I have tried 3 other types of version of the unbricker files, but this one worked!. When I went to install it, the installation told me the files already existed in psp/game/recover.. so I removed them and installed this one instead, not thinking that would make any difference as I have tried other ones before .

Now my PSP is a 3.02 OE-A. Think I rather use Devhook to emulate further stuff instead of updating to newer firmwares.

Two things could have caused my PSP to brick in the first place:

    1. I encountered a tiny bug in the installation program (that seems to happen rarely as I havn't read about anyone else with the same problem)

    2. Something didn't like my 4gb ms. So don't know if I should use it now, because it still wont read all the stuff from it.

To use popstation you need to update to 3.02OE-B. But don't fear, it takes like 5 seconds and doesn't overwrite any of the 3.02OE files so there's minimal potential for a brick.

Props to Cloudhunter for the save.

Nope, with the mod chip installed, you can get to its own recovery menu with L1, but with R1 you get to the recovery menu of the custom firmware.
