The first release from the French company’s new line of tablets is the Archos 101 XS.
Being touted as a competitor to Asus’s Transformer Prime, which measures 8.5mm in thickness, the Archos 101 XS comes in at 8mm (without Coverboard attached).
The new tablet features a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixel resolution display, a Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
Support for microSD, USB2.0, mini HDMI, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct comes built-in, along with a front-facing 720p camera able to take HD video.
The tablet's OS will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in November.
The 101 XS ships with a Magnetic Coverboard, which features a full keyboard, designed specifically for Android, and also doubles up as a screen cover.
Archos is set to release 8 and 9.7-inch XS tablets by the end of 2012.
The Archos 101 XS release date is mid September and will be priced at £299.99.
