Wouldn't have mattered until now as Dark_Alex's newest custom firmware has only now made it possible to play the full res (480x272) MP4 videos. You could play the smaller ones full-screen, but not at true 480x272.

Something must be using up all your RAM...I have a P4 1.8GHz w/ 512RAM and I can convert a 8 minute movie in 2-3 minutes. Are you sure you weren't running any memory hogging programs? (Ex: Firefox/Norton/Limewire)

    AVC Converted movies go in:
    MP_ROOT/100MNV01

    MPEG Converted movies go in:
    MP_ROOT/100ANV01

So with this plugin, you would put them in the 100MNV01 folder.

I thought it was the other way around. Wouldn't you want AVC videos in 100ANV01?

Anyway, does anyone know of a way to convert .VOB DVD rip files to this new PSP format?

Or is there a nice program to convert .VOB to high quality .AVI so that you could then convert the .AVI to 480x272 AVC???

It would make more sense...But has Sony's decisions ever made sense?

I can't think of any free programs that rip DVDs, but as for shareware PQDVD is great! It can rip and convert in one step. (It doesn't support 480x272 yet though)

Well I just put an anime episode I converted in the 100ANV01 folder and it worked great. We need to be able to do custom thumnails though. But I'm pretty sure you could make thumbnails in PSPVideo9 and use the custom .THM in place of the one created by 3GP.

I guess we will just need to wait for existing converters to implement this new resolution.

.THM is the same thing as .JPG. So make an 140x80 image and save it as a jpeg. Then rename the extension to .THM.

I got that too but i found a solution:

place the MAQxxxxx.MP4 and MAQxxxxx.THM files in the 100ANV01 and ur good to go!
