These items are VAT chargable. Call HMCE on 0845 010 9000 and go through to the toys section.

It is 0% duty on handheld consoles, if you have been charged duty by a courier then get the receipt from them copy to HMCE for a refund. ParcelForce did not charge me any duty. Again, you will more than likely get hit with the VAT and any charges the handler adds.

BTW you didn't answer my questions

Well Vimes games is a funny thing, when i asked the guy he said that duty was due on optical media unless it was a cartridge such as Gameboy etc. when i explained that the optical media was in a cartridge he said "is it a one off ie. you can't record on to it?" i said that it was a cart that can't have anything written on to it he said that it would be Duty Free, just VAT.

It's a tricky thing, don't rely on someone else telling you, just call the number i posted and go through to Toys section and ask, it's quite quick and i didn't wait long to get through.

If you want the right answer get it from the horses mouth

sounds like my ipod, came from america marked as $12 speaker phone, to avoid import costs. Many things that come through ebay are marked in such ways to avoid the cost. However major companies tend not to lie on their parcels. I dont see why they dont actually charge like £10 for the item then a further £200 or whatever for postage, and then include a reciept for the item, sayin it cost £10. Or is postage subject to vat also?

I wonder if they post it to jersey, then from jersey to mainland would you get around it that way. (not as random as it seems, play.com are based in jersey and we dont have to pay vat or import costs from there)

    Kpow - I didn't import mine so I didn't get a code.

Listen, I am glad that you didn't pay duty, but I bet a lot of people who didn't know they could phone HMCE did.
