InnoGames is close to implementing the Colonial Age into the new browser game Forge of Empires. With the new age, players will be able to travel beyond the Late Middle Ages – the current end of the game. This new version is planned to go live in about two weeks. Players can already test it on beta.forgeofempires.com.

The new era not only offers new technologies, units and buildings, but players also face 54 new story quests as well as revolutionary threats towards their kingdoms. Amongst others things, the Colonial Age includes technologies and achievements like artillery, fashion, imperialism as well as the first industrial goods. Province leaders are named close to important historical figures, like Louis XXI or Sophie Antoinette and players will have to ward off pirates. InnoGames is already working on later eras that will bring the game up to the current age and beyond.

Forge of Empires is a browser-based strategy game, where players, tasked with leading their own city to prosperity can research new technologies, build impressive historical buildings and enlarge their sphere of influence through military campaigns and skillful dealing. With nearly four million registrations within five months, the game has been the most successful start in the InnoGames history.

With about 90 million registered players, InnoGames is one of the world's leading developers and providers of online games. The Hamburg-based company has scored major successes with games such as Tribal Wars, The West and Grepolis.
