With the new age, players will be able to travel beyond the Late Middle Ages the current end of the game. This new version is planned to go live in about two weeks. Players can already test it on beta.forgeofempires.com.

The new era not only offers new technologies, units and buildings, but players also face 54 new story quests as well as revolutionary threats towards their kingdoms. Amongst others things, the Colonial Age includes technologies and achievements like artillery, fashion, imperialism as well as the first industrial goods. Province leaders are named close to important historical figures, like Louis XXI or Sophie Antoinette and players will have to ward off pirates.
