Thread: Could Sony Discontinue the PSP by the end of 2008?

    Lightbulb The faults....

When I open the box for my psp I didn't even know the analog stick was under the D pad. It really didnt look good and it didnt feel good for that matter. It felt cheap, plastic.... I wouldn't of mind if they made it bulky with the feel of a ps2 controller. It would of been easier to play games. I was also hoping to see ps2 graphics...not ps1. Some games have decent graphics.. MGS PO. But it never felt like a game where you just keep moving forward. It felt like stop, pick a stage, than execute. Just like dynasty warrirors. The only game that I enjoyed was Dungeon Siege. UMD movies costing $20 than$15, Still it was way too much, compared to $5.00 bucks for DVD movies at the local wal-mart. The price tag of $250.00 was high and should of came with a 30gb built in harddrive. If it really wanted to go against the ipod. I bought a ps1, ps2 and a psp. But I feel I got jipped buying a psp. The ps1 and ps2 was worth it. But I'm starting to think the psp isn't... Sony should of listen to the fans with what they wanted to see in a handheld. Maybe the next handheld will have better features with better games.

i think what psp lacks is a good lengthy rpg-title like Final Fantasy. At least that would makes sense to me. In fact, I bet there are so many people gone through all the effort updating custom firmware, risking bricking their psp just to play Final Fantasy 7.

It makes me sad to hear you say that Mike.
Yeah sure psx on psp is the new craze atm but is definately not the be all end all of the unit.
Maybe you could bring back some homebrew spruce by releasing your wifi enabled Cps2 and Mvs emulators?,
as thats where its really at for me and several others.
Cant beat homebrew emulation and this little machine is more than capable.
Besides that there bound to be many other good homebrews to come.

Well whatever happens to PSP I know my PSP will be with me for many many years, I have a full library on snes, ps1, genesis, gba etc waiting for me.

I can only see myself playing another portable if MS releases a Live enabled portable with proper controls for FPS and HDD, otherwise I'll have keep playing my PSP for many years to come.

Haha, who cares about 1 persons bad thoughts of the PSP's future.

My only concern about Sony closing the PSP-project is that we're all downloading games, might make developers go for DS and not PSP when making their games.

Also, in ALL of these articles you find on the net who judges the PSP, they never include homebrew, which is the PSP's power. Without any form of homebrew, UMD-emulation etc etc, I'd agree; the PSP would suck.
