You need to get some moderator-types in here to clean/sort these forums up. I imagine that when they release the US version, this place will be become (more of) a zoo.

Get some of those folks that like to put up Stickys and crap like that.

    Call in for backup!

Of course this question was answered a number of times already which leads me to a following request:
Ok, this is a good point.

Having the maps and having an "indexable map" are two different things.

The major mfgrs of GPS software pay big bucks for their databases.

In the USA, our Govt has made available for FREE the TIGER databases (After all we paid for it through tax dollars) which is GeoData/Maps and indexes, etc. It is quickly becoming dated, though, as much of the information is from 1998.

I think that after everyone is up and running smoothly, it would be nice to see this morph into a project where the PSP community can contribute to the Open-Source-Maps 'movement' somehow. If enough people collaborated, the FREE map databases could potentially be much better than anything that the commercial products have to offer.

I agree with A Fn NOOB about the maps database etc. but for now I’ll stop testing. TMI for me . ‘This prx that prx, the other prx’… “after everyone is up and running smoothly” I will continue testing.

Another thing, I don’t have a GPS 290. I rather wait a little for now. Everyone complaints about the 290 reception quality. My personal (humble) opinion is that the GPS 290 was designed for pedestrian use.

Thanks again DenisKa… don’t stop the great work.

Fix is better with the new EBOOT.PBP
Sat in view: up to 11
    Fixed: up to 5

    Thanks again D
y0 matt! Could you please send me the usbgps.prx to me? or upload anywhere? It´s because I think I made a prx file from the official EBOOT.PBP and I can´t find a OE-B EBOOT.PBP with the PSAR file. Or else, If you could post the link of the eboot for download, I´ll appreciate.

P.S.: I´ve downloaded the EBOOT.PBP from http://www.psp-hacks.com and those that are identified as OE types, I downloaded and when I tried to extract the PSAR it hasn´t inside the EBOOT.

This where i got the filesbacc.prx from 2.71, then extracted my own usbgps.prx from 3.03 OE-B using X-flash program to do a memory dump, i took the whole Map Plus Folder to my friends place and the GPS didnt work on PSP (same Version as mine), looks like you may have to generate your own usbgps.prx ?

    Good Luck

Woooooooow!!! This link I saw a lot of times LOL
I´ve downloaded and tested many times and making PRX combinations. I´m using firmware 3.03 OE-C. The only that works is both prx from 2.71. So, thank you very much for your help! I´ll try the X-flash! =D

    Regards.

Same here, I'm running 3.03OE-C and can ONLY use 2.71 usbgps.prx and 2.71 usbacc.prx. Could someone else confirm whether this is just a coincident? Also, does it matter where you get the prx files? I PSAR-dumped my own prx's from US firmwares-2.71, 3.00, 3.01, 3.02, and 3.03.

In any case, if I wait a while, I can still get a fix, just slower. Another problem is when I add waypoints, the program just crashes. Has this problem already been known?

    Thanks.
Yeah, figured out the waypoints issue, everything works great now! I seem to get a better fix with location=-36, compared to 0,1,2, using a suggestion by a previous post. Else, all good. Cheers.

I have discovered the reason why the TA-082 PSP will NOT interface with the PSP-290 GPS unit...........
The current TA-082 downgrader (to be revised soon) corrupts the idstorage keys (remaps those) responsible for the usb type B support. Thus Usbhostfs, Camera, GPS and PS3 connectivity have issues on TA-082 downgraded PSP(s).
Read more here @ MaxConsole forums and grab the fix:
    http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=44318

PSP-290 is working on TA-082(3.03OE-C) now!!!!!
