Ok, this is a good point.
Having the maps and having an "indexable map" are two different things.
The major mfgrs of GPS software pay big bucks for their databases.
In the USA, our Govt has made available for FREE the TIGER databases (After all we paid for it through tax dollars) which is GeoData/Maps and indexes, etc. It is quickly becoming dated, though, as much of the information is from 1998.
I think that after everyone is up and running smoothly, it would be nice to see this morph into a project where the PSP community can contribute to the Open-Source-Maps 'movement' somehow. If enough people collaborated, the FREE map databases could potentially be much better than anything that the commercial products have to offer.
