Mario Kart 64 Hits VC Next Week

Nintendo of America revealed on Tuesday that it would make Mario Kart 64 available to the Wii Shopping Channel next week. The acclaimed racer marks the second N64 title released for the Virtual Console.

Mario Kart 64 pits players in control of classic racers and challenges them to navigate a series of twisting, turning environments while using special power-ups. The title's single-player mode was fun, but the game will always be remembered for its addictive multiplayer offering -- IGN's own editors spent too many hours to count battling in some of its many arenas.

I didn't buy it for the 64 and I won't buy it for the Wii. I honestly didn't think the game was that good. If Nintendo had any sense, they'd release it with online play.

Mario Kart 64 was one of the best 64 games I played. I do hope it sees the US.

Also Id like to add. I dont understand why people demand online play or nothing for mk64.
I mean its a damn good game. Online play or not.
You wont see me passing this one up, not a chance..

Its unlikely Ninetendo will release any old games with online ability, come on, they've barely managed it with the Wii.....

the VC is intended as a museum of old games in the state they were released.

none of the VC games will be modified for new capabilities. ever.

it would be nice to get some Wii exclusives, besides the VC though...
