Help needed in playing Vice City Stories on 3.02

Please help, My son has a 1.5 version psp from Japan. He has not been able to play up to date games because of the firmware so I took it and had 3.02 OE-B put on the mem stick. Bought Vice City Stories and although the trailer plays when you move over the UMD icon, when you try to start the game it says "the game could not be started 80020148" I have tried rebooting and keeping pressed the R1 button and changing configarations but not sure if I have entered them incorrectly or not. I would be most grateful(and so would my son) if somebody could shed some light on what I am doing wrong.

The following should be off in advanced configuration...
"Plain modules in UMD/ISO"

"Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO"

"Use isofs driver also in UMD inserted mode"

I've been able to run a backup just fine on my PSP, by putting a UMD in the UMD drive, and loading the backup from the XMB.
