Pope Benedict XVI has taken a swipe at violent or sexually explicit video games and animated movies, naming them a "pervasive influence" on children.
The Pope made the statements in a message to mark the church's World Communications Day.
"Any trend to produce programs and products - including animated movies and video games - which in the name of entertainment exalt violence and portray anti-social behaviour or the trivilization of human sexuality is a perversion, all the more repulsive when these programs are directed at children and adolescents," he said.
"I appeal to the leaders of the media industry to educated and encourage producers to safeguard the common good, to uphold the truth, to protect individual human dignity and promote respect for the needs of the family."
Benedict also suggested that children should be encouraged to enjoy classic literature, fine arts and "uplifting music".
bottom line is that the parents should always be mindful of what their kids are playing.
hahaha the pope should keep his big popey hat out of other peoples business!! who does he think he is??? GOD!?!?! oh wait....... he does.....
i believe religion has killed more people than video games.
sry i don't listen to germans, last time people listened to a german..... well u know rhymes with riddler
He talks about classical literature and art; yet in those days, said artists and writers were shunned for their work by the generations before them.
If said Pope was born in 1983 and grew up with games and miraculously was given his title at 23 years of age, his attitude on gaming would be completely different.

'nuff said.
does he know that games have ratings allocated to diffrent ages.
instead of condemning violent games and animation he should just say they should have stricter rating system.
or he should condemn the parents for buying the games for the kids.
