    Default Dreamcast VGA Box opinion's

Ok I am wondering if anyone has one of these and their opinion on them? I would be using it on tv with VGA input. I'm just unclear if the unit has right and left audio as the tv has rca inputs for the audio if your using a VGA input but I assume it has it.

I don't have the one available at Racketboy so I can't say much about it. Also most people would prefer SEGA's official VGA box, but at least for now I am pretty happy with the unlicensed one I have.

Guess you can't do much wrong for 15$ so I would recommend to give it a try.

I have one like this and it does the job fine.

It's build quality is not particularly good. The power LED has never worked and I had to cut away at the plastic around the vga port in order to get the cable to fit properly, but it works all well and good.

I've had it hooked up to a 19" Mitsubishi monitor (CRT) and there was a noticable increase in picture quality and an added crispness. Games with small text like Ikaruga are easier to read.

From an audio point of view, there are both L & R audio outputs and a stereo headphone jack which I have connected to a pair of logitech PC speakers.

One thing to note is that some games will not work with the vga cable. From memory Bust A Move 4, Bangia-O and Gunbird 2 suffered from problems.

I think the item you're looking at is a VGA cable, not a vga box but I'm not sure about what differentiates the 2. You may need to do a bit of digging on the net. There's a bit here:

I got the same one and I had no problems with connecting it to my monitor.

For 15 Euros there is not much you could possibly do wrong with a VGA cable/box

RMD posted some photos at DCEmulation.com:

Trust me that it looks a billion times better than on those screenies...

just make sure anyone u get has unaplified audio output straight from the dreamcast's av cable (rca red and white ports) because most that have headphones ports and/or volume controls add horrid static/hiss

however, some have both ports, just make sure it's not amplified.
