    Default Monochrome only with Wii

Any idea why we are only getting black and white picture with our Nintendo Wii?

Checked all the connections, and made sure the TV country setting is UK, but it's not clear what we can do to get colour.

    1) have you tried it on a diff TV?
    2) are you using the standard composite cable that came with the Wii?
    3) can you borrow a diff cable to see if that's the problem?
    4) are you connecting it directly to the TV or another component first?
    5) do other components plugged into the same ports work without issue?

If it was an imported Wii I'd say set your TV to 'auto' rather than 'PAL' or 'NTSC' (picture/colour mode), thats probably what you meant by the TV being set to 'UK' though.

I just 'fixed' my elderly neighbours DVD player today, it was a combo VHS/DVD player. For some reason the VHS and tuner output PAL format, the DVD player NTSC (which showed up as B/W on the TV).
Couldn't find any option in the DVD players setup menu to select between the 2 so I just set the TV to auto.

Probably not much help to you, sorry. Thought I would post it all the same.

I just got my Wii today and had the same problem when using the supplied RCA to scart converter, luckily my TV has RCA inputs and that worked fine.

At first I thought it was a problem with the converter as it only has a few pins, but using my Xbox RCA to scart convert produces the same results. I have yet to test it on another TV to find out whether the same thing happens.
