Microsoft has rolled out an update for Windows Vista that addresses problems users may have been experiencing when trying to run games.

Going by the catchy title Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update, the update, says the company, is "a package of software updates that address common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista".

It continues about the game side of the update - because that's what we're interested in -"When you try to install and run certain legacy games... in Windows Vista, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms: The game... may not be installed correctly; The game... may cause system instability; The primary functions of the game... may not work correctly."

The update "improves support in Windows Vista" for the likes of Lego Star Wars, Flight Sim X, Battlefield 2 Deluxe, Age of Empires III and Fable: The Lost Chapters. Interesting that some of those are published by Microsoft Game Studios... Anyway, a full list of games addressed by the update and download instructions can be found here.
