Analog stick on PSP not working

The analog stick on my PSP (firmware 1.5) isn't working anymore. The PSP thinks I'm pushing down even when I'm not. I took off the face plate and analog stick, and it still thought I was pushing the analog stick down.

Any help would be appreciated.

i can help, first:
open the psp, then search is the plastic thingy is their, if its not your screwed.'
if its there make sure its clean both sides.
another wasy, if its not working still, wobble the analog stick side by side till its stable and smooth

take off the analog stick, and pull up on the nub, mine got stuck like that, it kept scrolling down

it might be the spring inside because it gets damaged easily, open up your analog nub and check, if it is u might need to get a replacement. this happens when its used to rough. either that or it uncoiled and u just need to put it back together which ever works.
