Mario DS Save problem?

I've been playing the Mario 64 DS original cart for a while now, the 3 games saves I had were over 30 stars over 50 stars and over 60 stars, but NOW I HAVE NONE!!!

For some reason all my stars have gone! The mini games that I opened are still available but now its like I have to start the game all over again!!

Does anyone have any idea whats happened? I have NOT deleted them myself.

Also, are the saved games saved to the game cart or to the DS?

So does this mean the game cart may be faulty? or is there any other waù that the game saves have gone?

It seems strange that the mini games are still available.

Do you know anyone who might have done it on purpose? Cuz that's what it sounds like.
