As of today, Thanko are taking reservations for their USB Wii Remote Chargers to be released at the end of this month. Priced at 3,480 yen each (or 6,480 yen for two), these plug into the back of your Wii and, you guessed it, charge your Wii Remote (along with two bespoke AA lithium ion batteries included with the charger). It takes about 3 and a half hours to charge the batteries, which then last for a good 25 hours.
To be honest, it's amazing that Nintendo didn't include this kind of functionality with the Wii in the first place.

.... when i look at my wii mote i notice on the side theres a groove cut into the controller perhaps nintendo is making a charging system for the wiimotes aswell
they just didn't have them made for the release? ....
could be. ive thought about that myself.
The reason they didnt include the functionality to begin with is so that they can charge extra for it afterwards! They're good at that sort of thing
Although to be fair I do expect Nintendo's offering to be better than the third party ones, as usual.
That said, I think a charging kit is quite high up on the list of Wii owners, as I know that I've spent a small fortune on batteries already.. get your skates on Nintendo else I'll be buying this one!

Amazon.co.uk are taking orders for the Joystiq version £19.99 and it takes two wiimotes. It has those daft holders for the nunchuck but I can live with that. Also comes with battery packs and charges from USB.
I've already been using rechargeable batteries so i haven't wasted much money, but these babies will make my life a little simpler.
Those Wiimote chagers look highly useful and the 3480 yen (£14.60) price tag isn't too bad either.
I wanna get 2, but postage will be high from Japan/China or wherever it is!![]()
