Instragram has seen its subscriber base reduced by half, after a mass exodus in protest over changes to its terms and conditions.
According to Digital Spy, statistics suggest that the Facebook-owned photo service has seen its numbers drop from 16 million daily users to 7.81 million since mid-December.
The drop has come about as a huge number of users closed their accounts in protest over changes to the T&Cs that would have allowed Instagram to use the photos of its users for financial gain. Horrified by the prospect of seeing their private family photos used in adverts, the user base left in droves.
Although the company backtracked on the policy, the bad publicity coupled with popularity that was already waning meant that the damage had already been done.
