Default A Movie and TV series for you all to see.

Tonight my cousin pointed out to me something rather amazing and I strongly urge all of you sci fi movie buffs... or anyone who enjoys Joss Whedon's other works (Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel) to see.

towards the beginning of the millennium Joss signed on with fox to do a sci fi show called "Firefly" about a ship and its crew of... kind hearted pirates I suppose you could describe them. Fox, being assholes, canceled it (likely due to its anti-war themes, and the war in iraq was just getting started and other similarities). I think about 11 episodes were aired, but two or three more can been seen on the DVD. Anyway, regardless of fox cutting the show, Whedon, with the help of fans (and just plain firefly fans) developed their own fan base that is still alive and kicking. Comic books apparently came out, but also a REALLY kick ass low budget movie called Serenity was made.. Sadly it didnt gain a huge deal of interest until after the movie appeared on DVD (Office Space scenario), but it did get some great reviews and is an excellent movie.

I urge you all to at least rent the movie Serenity, If you liked it as much as I did check out the tv series by buying the DVD box set (DO NOT BOOTLEG!)... seriously... go watch Serenity and tell me what you think!

    Read about Firefly here.

    Check out Whedon's blog here.

I watched it when it was on fox, then bought it on DVD. 16$ at costco =)

Saw Serenity at the theaters. Havn't got it on DVD yet though.

EXCELLENT show. A must see for any fan of space westerns. In my mind it fits into a perfect trifecta in my life: Star Wars, Cowboy Bebop and Firefly.

    Space Westerns.
