MCV revealed last week that retailer GAME was preparing a move into game streaming – and now the first details have been released.
The chain has struck a deal with cloud computing and streaming tech specialist CiiNOW to offer customers access to “console-class titles” on a range of devices such as PCs, Mac, set-top boxes, tablets and smartphones.
Managed trials will kick off shortly with a full launch planned for the second half of the year.
“As the face of gaming changes, it’s vital that we stay at the forefront,” GAME CEO Martyn Gibbs stated. “We believe in providing our customers with access to great games in every gaming arena and these trials will help shape how we do that.
“By using CiiNOW’s scalable cloud-based gaming technology, we will be able to offer our broad customer base an instant and exciting entertainment experience.”
CiiNOW CEO and co-founder Ron Haberman added: “GAME has been the place to get great video game content in the UK, and we are excited to support their ambition to provide customers with a device-agnostic, immersive gaming experience. With the incorporation of CiiNOW’s cloud-based technology, GAME’s customers will now experience instant gaming like never before.”
