What would be the best PSP solution?

The best thing is you can use that GPS device on other systems, such as a laptop.

But its very unofficial.

Besides I don't think the other options will really work in the UK yet.

What exactly are you interested in?

Acquiring and keeping the signal, 236 and 240 is superior, the SONY GPS is small and no cable is required. Tried my 240 on a plane, it worked, tried it in Tokyo, it did work ( albeit weak signals ), works perfectly in the US, including downtown major cities.

Restate your question taking into consideration all your criteria, plz.

What do you mean "unofficial"? as in, "not Sony"?

If that's the case, perhaps you should just wait until Sony release the PSP290 w/ software for your country. Currently, the PSP290 and Maplus is only "officially" released in Japan.

From what i've gathered from the MapThis! 0.461S forum, a lot of people are having problems using the PSP290 with MapThis!, actually, with the PSP290TEST also, so I think it's the PSP290 and PSP.

As for the GPSlim 240, it also has bluetooth built-in, so it'll work with most if not all bluetooth-enabled smartphones/PDAs, and in my case, my Motorola SLVR L7. This is in addition to my bluetooth-enabled laptop.

Also, the 240 is very small, see this post, http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...&postcount=317.

And to go the 240 route would not necessarily be the DIY route since you can get both the 240 and the cable on the internet. The only "con" would be higher cost compared to the PSP290.
