Four million-plus sales of The Sims 2 on PC is sim-ply not enough for EA. Oh no. Cash registers are ringing with a 'ker-ching' of anticipation following the news that the publisher has taken the decision to deliver the already massive sequel to the current generation of consoles - PS2, Xbox and GameCube - handhelds PSP, Nintendo DS and GBA and even mobile phones. There is no escape.
According to IGN, The Sims 2 on console and handheld will offer an experience slightly different to that found in the PC version. The introduction of direct control, allowing you to drop into a third-person perspective behind a sim and usher them around, is pretty big bananas, and there's also the likes of new characters, a new social system, extended plotlines, a heap of customisation features and split-screen two-player (presumably only on PS2, Xbox and GC versions) to look forward to. Blimey.
Expect more on this one at E3 next month.
oh no ... not the sims
