The Japanese retail games market grew by 1.2 per cent to $4.6 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31.
That's according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain (via

), which said hardware sales increased by five per cent to $1.8 billion, while software sales fell by 1.2 per cent to $2.8 billion.Hardware sales were likely boosted by the introduction of the 3DS XL and Wii U, and price cuts to Sony systems.3DS was comfortably the top-selling hardware platform in Japan in calendar year 2012, while 3DS games took the first four places on the annual software chart and seven of the top ten.
