Massachusetts assemblywoman Linda Stender wants to introduce legislation to ban mature-rated arcade games.
There’s a problem, though – The Entertainment Software Rating Board does not rate coin-operated arcade games.
“Stender will introduce legislation that prohibits any kind of public accommodation – movie theaters, rest stops, bowling alleys, arcades – from making games rated Mature or Adults Only available to the public for play,” a press release from Stender’s office read, as reported by Kotaku.
If successful the legislation would impose an initial $10,000 fine on any business housing one of imaginary arcade games, rising to $20,000 for subsequent offences.
MCV wishes Stender the best of luck. Fictional video games are the very worst.
