    Because if we're talking about the customized firmware dump, it contains modified Sony code which is illegal to redistribute due to the license under which the PSP Firmware is protected. However, if you modify it yourself...

    This is one of those "it's legal for your neighbor to come into your house and press 'record' on your VCR to record a show for you, but not for him to record it at his home and give you the cassette" things (BTW, that is pretty much what the MPAA says).
